Samsung Galaxy A70 Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Actual Photos, Full Specs
Samsung Galaxy A70, which was formally unveiled by the Korean Giant on April 10, 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand - is essentially the larger, more powerful, and more expensive version of the best-selling Samsung Galaxy A50 released in the Philippines on March 30, 2019.
Those two midrange Galaxy models share practically identical design identities but the A70 has a larger screen, higher resolution cameras, bigger battery, and more powerful internal hardware.
The Galaxy A50 entered the market at PHP 17,990 and while the company hasn't disclosed the official price of the Samsung Galaxy A70, I'm guessing that it should come in at around PHP 23,000 to PHP 25,000, which is not bad given its key features and main selling points.
As you can see in these images, one of the coolest things about this phone is its gorgeous aesthetics. Like the A50, the A70 has a high-gloss look and eye-catching, almost 3D color finish. Heck, even the Black verson has multi-colored "prism" undertones that change depending on how light hits the device.
Whether you love watching movies and TV series on your handset or you enjoy playing mobile games, you will surely enjoy doing all those activities on this handset's ultra-large 6.7-inch FullHD+ SuperAMOLED display.
Sure, it has a notch -- but for me, it's small enough to be an annoyance. On top of that, it can also be hidden by tweaking display settings.
This notch houses the device's 32 MegaPixel f/2.0 selfie-shooter, which is powered by the Korean Giant's own beautification software that automatically touches up your skin in photos, making them instantly ready for sharing on social media. In comparison, the more affordable Galaxy A50 has a slightly lower resolution 25MP f/2.0 selfie snapper.
The same increase in camera resolution was also implemented in the primary shooter of Samsung Galaxy A70's Triple Rear Camera module.
Whereas the A50 has a 25 MegaPixel f/1.7 primary cam, the one on the A70 clocks in at a whopping 32 MegaPixels with the same aperture. I believe this should result in greater sharpness and clarity; Though, the proof of that will still be in the pudding. We have to test this new cameraphone out.
As for the secondary wide-angle shooter - which is great for landscape and group shots - and the depth sensor that enables Live Focus mode in Portraits, they're still 8 MegaPixels and 5 MegaPixels, respectively.
For budding vloggers and aspiring Youtube content creators, the Samsung Galaxy A70's main rear cam can shoot clips up to 4K 30fps and it also comes with electronic image stabilization for steady shots despite subtle hand movements while recording. The front cam, on the other hand, can take 1080p or FullHD videos at 30 frames per second.
Despite measuring only 7.9 millimeters at its thickest point, Samsung Galaxy A70 actually has a very large 4,500 mAh Li-Po battery pack that should ensure at least a whole day of uptime with regular use. If you hate always plugging your handset to an electrical outlet or powerbank, you will definitely appreciate this feature.
What's even nicer is that this smartphone supports 25W fast charging via USB Type C port using the provided travel charger and cable, which means that you can spend less time charging the Galaxy A70 and more time being more productive with the device on the go.
Inside the phone's attractive shell, it runs its One UI customized Android 9.0 Pie operating system with a powerful yet energy-efficient 11nm Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, which integrates an Adreno 617 GPU that can deliver buttery smooth gaming experience when running popular titles like Mobile Legends Bang Bang and PUBG Mobile. In fact, this handset should have no issues running any resource intensive game that you can download from the Google Play Store.
The A70's more than capable chipset is complemented by 8GB of RAM for seamless multitasking experience - even when running so many apps at once - and a sizable 128GB of internal storage that you can even augment using the dedicated microSD card slot. Yup, no need to sacrifice Dual SIM capability just to get more space for photos, videos, movies, and other heavy files.
Interested? Samsung Galaxy A70 will be launched in many key markets around the world - hopefully including the Philippines - on April 26, 2019. Like its smaller sibling, this model will initially be out in three colors, namely, Black, White, and Blue.
