Samsung Galaxy Note10 Plus Philippines Price Starts at PHP 60,990, Release Date is August 23, 2019
I'm now here at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in BGC for the Local Unpacked Event of Samsung Mobile where the Korean Giant is set to introduce the all-new Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note10+.
Earlier today - July 7, 2019, Filipino tech bloggers and members of the media were given the chance to play with the powerhouse duo and as a long-time Note-user, I have to say that I am impressed with most of the new features of both devices.
Sure, I have gripes here and there - which I'll talk about in the latter part of this article - but overall, these two new Note models come replete with notable upgrades coming from the very popular Samsung Galaxy Note9 of 2018.
Overview
Representing the 10th generation models in this best-selling series, the Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ build upon the success of their predecessors by donning better internal hardware and more powerful imaging features more than anything else.
In this blog post, I'll talk about the Samsung Galaxy Note10 Plus which is the larger of the two new releases. Featuring a more sizable screen, greater amount of RAM, more cameras, and bigger battery pack, this model - as expected - also comes with a more hefty price tag, putting it well within the ultra-premium smartphone category.
Stellar Design and Build
Whereas the Galaxy Note8 and Note9 look largely identical when viewed from at least three angles, the Galaxy Note 10+ sports an all-new design language that I find more classy and elegant.
It's akin to a flattened tube and this look frankly reminds me of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, which - I believe - is one of the most handsome smartphones ever released.
What makes the Galaxy Note 10+ a real head-turner, though, are its stainless steel mid-frame, all-screen face, and Gorilla Glass front and back panels.
Beastly Internal Hardware
In South East Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, Samsung Galaxy Note10+ units are powered by the 7nm Exynos 9825 processor, which is easily the best mobile chipset that Samsung has released so far. This CPU is complemented by a whopping 12GB of RAM for unparalleled multitasking experience and up to 512GB of expandable storage. Together, these innards make the Note10+ possibly the most powerful Android smartphone in the market upon launch.
In the United States and China, the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ runs its One UI skinned Android 9.0 Pie operating system with the flagship-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.
Immersive Display
Samsung Galaxy Note10 Plus features a near-bezel-less 6.8-inch QuadHD+ Cinematic Infinity SuperAMOLED Display that's supposedly brighter and more brilliant compared to the screens of older Note models -- thanks to its HDR10+ Certification and Dynamic Tone Mapping.
This panel also has an O-shaped notch, housing the front-facing camera, which is placed in the upper middle part of the screen for a more balanced and symmetric look.
According to the Korean Giant, Samsung Galaxy Note10+'s display has 98% color and brightness uniformity. It also features Eye Comfort mode that minimizes blue light without affecting color quality for comfortable viewing.
Great for Mobile Photographers and Video Content Creators
If you love snapping photos using your cameraphone, then you will surely find the Galaxy Note10+'s Quad Rear Camera set-up very useful.
This module is made up of an Ultra Wide 16 MegaPixel f/2.2 shooter with 123° field of view that's ideal for taking landscape images, a primary Wide-Angle 12 MegaPixel camera with variable f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture with stellar low light imaging prowess, a 12 MegaPixel f/2.1 telephoto cam for lossless zoom, and all-new DepthVision VGA camera that's enables cleaner shallow depth of field effect.
Later, I will show you sample images and videos taken using this top-level cameraphone.
For vloggers and Youtube content creators, I'm sure that you will appreciate this model's ability to capture super steady 4K videos using the primary, ultra-wide, and telephoto rear cameras.
For me. though, what's amazing is that even the front-facing camera of the Note10+ can shoot stabilized 4K videos -- a very useful capability that it shares with the Galaxy S10 Series released earlier this year.
No 3.5mm Audio Jack
As an owner of several powerful wired headsets and as a video creator who regularly uses a wired lavalier microphone, one thing about the Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note 10 Plus that doesn't sit well with me is their lack of a 3.5mm combo jack.
Sure, we can always use a dongle -- but for me, it's just another inconvenience that Samsung could easily addressed by adding that one port.
Apple started this terrible trend and frankly, I'm quite disappointed that Samsung followed it.
New On-Board Microphone Technology
As a content creator who believes that good audio in videos should be a top priority, I'm very interested in heavily testing the Note10+'s all-new Zoom-In Mic, which is said to amplify the audio in frame by pushing background noise to help focus on recording the sound that you want.
I think this will be very useful when shooting talking head videos or vlogs in public without using an external microphone. I hope it works well in real-world scenarios.
Industry-Leading Stylus Support
No other smartphone manufacturer can match Samsung when it comes to smooth and reliable stylus support. That's a fact and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+'s S-Pen is another testament to that.
This new, low-energy enabled S-Pen can now be used to for converting handwriting to digital text via Samsung Notes and for doing several tasks on the device - including editing videos and playing games - using gestures.
Better Samsung DeX Experience
Samsung has just made it even easier to work between the Galaxy Note 10 or Note10+ and a PC or Mac. With just a USB connection, users can easily drag and drop files between devices or use mobile apps with a mouse and a keyboard -- all while keeping their data private and secure on their phablet, thanks to Samsung Knox
Availability in the Philippines
Samsung Galaxy Note10+ will be officially launched in the Philippines on August 23, 2019 with an official price tag of PHP 60,990 for the 256GB model. A limited edition 512GB variant will also be launched and that one will sell for a whopping PHP 72,990.
These price tags make the Note10+ one of the most expensive smartphones ever released globally. As an owner of older Galaxy Note phablets, I still can't believe that this line has become this expensive. If you ask me, these prices are a bit too much for a smartphone -- but hey, if you have the money for it and you think you deserve the Note10+, then I don't see why you should deprive yourself of the pleasure of owning a unit.
