Xiaomi Mi A3 Philippines Price, Specs, Actual Unit Photos, Availability
Last Saturday - August 24, 2019, Xiaomi Philippines officially made the all-new Xiaomi Mi A3 midrange Android smartphone available at all of their concept stores and authorized retail outlets nationwide.
TP Friend John Roland Pamiloza of Bulakenyo Tech Blog shared with us these photos of the actual handset which he snapped yesterday right after he visited the Mi Store in SM North EDSA Cyberzone.
As you can see in these photos, Xiaomi Mi A3 features several neat enhancements compared to its best-selling precedessor, the Mi A2 from 2018 (also known as Xiaomi Mi 6X in other territories). However, it has one point for improvement that I wish Xiaomi could have given it to make it a more "complete" release.
First, let me talk about the clear improvements that you will see on this model.
While the Mi A2 was already quite goodlooking, I think the Xiaomi Mi A3 is superior in terms of looks. To be specific, the 'Not Just Blue' has a metallic sheen that makes it quite a head-turner. For me, this finish makes the device look more expensive than it actually is.
Sure, you can argue that the Xiaomi Mi A2 has a real metal shell compared to Mi A3's polycarbonate body. However, it's hard to deny that the latter's design language is more updated.
When it comes to internal hardware, this year's model comes with a more powerful and energy efficient 11nm Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 versus the 14nm Snapdragon 660 CPU on the older release. Although, Mi A3 has the same 4GB of RAM, it nevertheless features a larger 128GB of internal storage that's expandable via the phone's hybrid secondary nanoSIM card slot. Overall, I think is combination of innards is quite a treat for an international brand phone at this price point.
Another notable enhancement implemented on the Xiaomi Mi A3 are its three cameras at the back. You get a 48 MegaPixel f/1.8 main camera that's crafted to perform well even in challenging lighting conditions, an 8 MegaPixel f/2.2 wide angle shooter that's great for capturing landscape and group shots, and a 2 MegaPixel f/2.4 depth sensor that enables bokeh effect for portraits and images where you want the subject's background to be blurred.
Looking back, although the Xiaomi Mi A2 was a reliable cameraphone, it lacked a wide-angle shooter and it delivered low resolution shots compared to the Mi A3.
The front-facing camera housed in the notch above the display was also given a boost. You now get a powerful 32 MegaPixel that should give you clear and brilliant selfies even when you're indoors and there's little ambient light.
Speaking of the screen, the Xiaomi Mi A3 sports a 6.01 inch SuperAMOLED panel with slim bezels allowing for a smaller footprint. Although this type of display is more vibrant and energy-efficient compared to the LTPS LCD of the Mi A2, I wish that it also had a FullHD+ resolution instead of just HD+ for better clarity. For me, this is the one sore point for improvement of this model -- but it shouldn't be a deal breaker given all the other things that the smartphone has to offer.
Another highlight of this release is its Optical In-Display Fingerprint Scanner, which is a lot faster than ultra-sonic ones. Not only that, it's also more accurate so it has a higher chance of instantly identifying your fingerprint on the first try.
If you hate bringing a powerbank everywhere you go, you will certainly appreciate this handset's large 4,030 mAh Li-Po battery that ensures all-day uptime with regular use. It can even be charged faster -- thanks to 18W Quick Charge 3.0 innovation.
Do you like what you're seeing? Xiaomi Mi A3 is now available across the country through the brand's official retail channels. You can even get it online via argomall which will deliver it to your doorstep free of charge. The 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM version dons a price tag of just PHP 11,990. Aside from "Not Just Blue", this handset is also out in "Kind of Gray" and "More Than White".
