Realme 5 Pro Philippines Full Specs, Actual Unit Photos, Unboxing, Key Features
Earlier this year, Realme became a breakout smartphone brand in the Philippines when the Realme 3 Pro ended up being one of the best-selling 2019 gaming handsets in this market.
Hot on the heels of that success, the Chinese tech company is now poised to launch a follow-up model in the form of the Realme 5 Pro.
Last Friday - September 13, 2019, at The Mess Hall Restaurant in Makati City, Filipino tech bloggers as well as members of the media were given a chance by the company to play with this upcoming midrange Android smartphone and to see for ourselves every amazing feature that it has to offer.
Honestly, at first, I thought that the Realme 5 Pro will just have enhanced internal hardware to make it an even better phone for running mobile games.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the device actually has so much more to offer especially in terms of imaging capabilities.
Also, even if Realme 5 Pro's 6.3-inch FullHD+ IPS display and glass-sandwich look are more or less similar to what we got on its predecessor, the Realme 3 Pro, this new iteration actually has a more striking or eye-catching look thanks to its more vibrant color options - namely, Crystal Blue and Crystal Green - and larger camera module with real metal rim.
This module houses a stellar Quad Camera set-up which is comprised of a 48 MegaPixel f/2.0 primary shooter that's crafted to perform well in various lighting conditions, an 8 MegaPixel f/2.2 secondary Ultra-Wide cam for capturing landscape and group shots, a tertiary 2 MegaPixel f/2.4 Dedicated Macro Camera for close-up shots of small objects and fine details, and finally, 2 MegaPixel Depth Sensor that enables Portrait Mode that lets you add background blur to your subject.
This four lens set-up gives any experienced or aspiring mobile photographer more flexibility in taking images from various angles all while using different focal lengths or fields of view. I guess, with Realme 5 Pro, your creativity is the limit when snapping photos.
Oh, and if you're a vlogger or Youtube content creator, you will surely appreciate the fact that the Realme 5 Pro can now take 4K 30fps videos using the primary rear camera. For me, this resolution comes in handy when you want to zoom in on the clips during editing and not lose details when you are rendering the final video on FullHD.
For those who still enjoy taking selfies, there's a 16 MegaPixel f/2.0 camera in front, housed in the Dewdrop Notch above the display, which is powered by Realme's own AI Beautification software that enhances your skin tone in shots while retaining your identifying facial features.
With Realme 3 Pro and Realme C2, this brand has solidified its image in our country as a top maker of affordable Android smartphones for gaming.
Running its ColorOS 6 skinned Android 9.0 Pie operating system with a powerful yet energy-efficient 10nm Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor that incorporates Adreno 616 GPU for lag-free gaming experience, Realme 5 Pro also comes with up to - get this - a whopping 8GB of RAM for smooth multitasking and 128GB of internal storage that can easily be expanded using the dedicated microSD card slot. No need to sacrifice Dual SIM capability just to get more space for all the heavy mobile games that you will install on this device (on top of all the photos and videos that you will take using it.)
For the millions of Mobile Legends Bang Bang players in the Philippines, you can rest assured that Realme 5 Pro will be able to run this title without stuttering even if you use high frame rate or high quality graphics. In fact, Realme is an official partner of Moonton - maker of ML - so it makes total sense for this smartphone to excel in running this game.
Aside from having good internal hardware, a reliable gaming smartphone must also have a large battery that can be charged quickly -- and Realme 5 Pro has got those features covered.
This model is powered by a large 4,035 mAh Li-Po battery that can deliver all-day uptime with regular use and what's amazing is that this pack can be charged from 0 to 100% in just an hour -- thanks to VOOC 3.0 Flash Charging technology! With this, you can have more time enjoying games on the handset and less time plugging it to an electrical outlet.
If you're concerned about privacy and security, Realme 5 Pro has both Facial Recognition integrated in its front-facing camera as well as a rear-mounted Fingerprint Scanner. These two add a veritable layer of protection on top of the usual pattern or passcode unlock.
As of writing, Realme Philippines hasn't disclosed the official retail price of Realme 5 Pro -- but I'm guessing that it shouldn't cost more than PHP 20,000. Heck, I think its SRP should be close to that of the aging Realme 3 Pro. But that's just me. Like you, I'm still waiting for the company to make the formal announcement.
Anyway, this is how the official retail package of Realme 5 Pro looks.
It's a plain white box with the front and back designs of the handset printed on top. (Honestly, though, I miss the orange box. It just looked so different compared to what other brands use.) You will also see the new slogan "Dare to Leap", which - I believe - reflects the company's higher aspirations. Who knows, we might even see more high-end Realme handsets in the near future.
Inside the box, you will find the handset itself, the quick start guide, safety information, metal pin for ejecting the SIM card tray, USB Type C to USB connector cable, the VOOC Flash Charger, and a soft gel case -- so you won't have to buy one separately. Realme is mindful of its fans like that.
Alright! That's it for now. Stay tuned for more TechPinas blog posts and Youtube videos about this future best-seller in our country. If you have any questions about the Realme 5 Pro just leave them in the comment section below or message me on social media. Cheers!
