Samsung Galaxy A50s Philippines Price, Specs, New Features, Pre-Order Details
Built for the Era of Live, Samsung Galaxy A50s builds upon the stellar features of the best-selling Samsung Galaxy A50, which was released earlier this year, by having better imaging features and video recording capabilities.
Although this model practically has the same 6.4-inch FullHD+ IPS display and set of internal hardware as its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy A50s offers a notable boost when it comes to capturing moments in photos and clips that the user can then share on Youtube, Facebook, and other online streaming or social media platforms.
Whereas the Samsung Galaxy A50 merely had a 25 MegaPixel f/1.7 primary shooter in its triple rear camera module, the Galaxy A50s has a more powerful, higher resolution 48 MegaPixel f/2.0 main snapper that's made to deliver clearer and more crisp images even in challenging lighting conditions.
The two other cameras at the back, though, are essentially the same. We still have an 8 MegaPixel f/2.2 secondary cam with ultra-wide angle lens that's great for capturing landscape images or group shots and a tertiary 5 MegaPixel Depth Sensor that enables Live Focus mode for adding beautiful background blur to portraits.
Great news for vloggers and Youtube content creators, the wide and ultra-wide back cameras of the Samsung Galaxy A50s can record 4K videos with Super Steady Mode which greatly minimizes shaking even without the use of a gimbal. I'd say that this is Samsung's own version of aggressive Electronic Image Stabilization.
The front-facing camera also saw a major boost both in terms of photo and video resolution.
The Samsung Galaxy A50 has a 25 MegaPixel f/2.0 cam - housed in the notch above the display - that can shoot FullHD 1080p clips at 30 frames per second.
Offering a true upgrade in this department, the Samsung Galaxy A50s has a 32 MegaPixel f/2.0 selfie snapper that records 4K 30fps videos, which is definitely great news for vloggers who prefer to use their smartphone's front cam for creating content.
I'm glad that Samsung is well in tune with what today's consumers actually want from their handsets when it comes to shooting videos. I mean, that 4K resolution bump is definitely a big deal.
In the future, though, I'd love to see Samsung put two cameras in front of their smartphones; One with a standard wide lens and the other with an ultra-wide field of view both capable of shooting 4K stabilized videos even in low light conditions. Such set-up would be ideal for travel vlogging wherein you want to show yourself in the context of your current location. If there's any mobile company that can make that happen, I'm sure that it's Samsung.
Now, as for the internal hardware, the Samsung Galaxy A50s runs its One UI customized Android 9.0 Pie operating system with a slightly augmented 10nm Exynos 9610 Octa processor that's lauded for its energy-efficiency while delivering decent overall performance. The chipset is complemented by either 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM or 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM combo.
Like the Galaxy A50, A50s is powered by a large 4,000 mAh Li-Po battery pack that's good enough to deliver a whole day of uptime with regular use. You can squeeze more hours out of it if you're not really so much into mobile gaming or doing resource intensive activities on your device.
Speaking of mobile gaming, Samsung Galaxy A50s comes with AI Game Booster that intelligently improves the frame rate and energy consumption when running high performance titles.
Samsung Galaxy A50s supports 15W Fast Charging and I'm sure that consumers would be glad to know that this model ships with a travel charger that's compatible with this. In comparison, the Galaxy A50 came with a charger that can only deliver 2A output.
