Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro, Officially Launched in the Philippines
On Thursday evening - October 3, 2019, at the Grand Ballroom of City of Dreams in Paranaque City, Realme Philippines officially launched the much-talked-about Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro midrange Android smartphones, both donning exciting featuring along with affordable price tags.
Although both phones share almost the same eye-catching design identity and useful Quad Rear Camera set-up, the Realme 5 Pro is the more expensive model as it has more powerful imaging capabilities and internal hardware.
As I've shared earlier, Realme 5 Pro sports a 6.3-inch FullHD+ IPS display, 16 MegaPixel f/2.0 selfie cam in front, 10nm Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor, and up to 8GB of RAM.
Despite being cheaper, though, Realme 5 also has notable hallmarks and unique selling points that I'm sure many Pinoy consumers will appreciate.
The more wallet-friendly model has a larger 5,000 mAh Li-Po battery pack delivering up to two days of uptime with regular use, a more sizable albeit lower resolution 6.5-inch HD+ IPS display, and an energy-efficient 11nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor.
Both handsets have four cameras at the back, there's a 2MP Depth Sensor enabling Portrait Mode that adds Bokeh Effect to highlight the subject, dedicated 2MP Macro cam for close-up shots, 8 MegaPixel f/2.2 Ultra-Wide-Angle shooter for landscape and architectural images, and for the primary camera, Realme 5 Pro has a 48 MegaPixel f/1.8 snapper with Sony sensor while the Realme 5 has a lower resolution main cam at 12 MegaPixels.
Here are the official prices of Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro in the Philippines.
Realme 5 has a Lazada Exclusive version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that has a price tag of just PHP 6,990.
There's also 3GB RAM + 64GB ROM Realme 5 variant with SRP of PHP 7,990 while the 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM version goes for PHP 9,990.
Realme 5 Pro with 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM dons an SRP of PHP 11,990 and the 8GB RAM + 128GB variant, which is the most pricey model announced during the event, sells for PHP 13,990.
You can now buy Realme 5 at all concept stores as well as authorized retail channels nationwide and on October 16, 2019, this model will likewise be up for purchase online.
For those who are eyeing Realme 5 Pro, Realme Concept Stores will be accepting pre-orders starting today until October 11, 2019 -- and those who will successfully sign-up for a unit will get a free Realme 10,000 mAh Powerbank worth PHP 1,599. You may also pre-order your unit through LazMall until October 8, 2019.
At the event, Realme Philippines also showed tables directly comparing the technical specifications of Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro versus their main competitors by other international brands to show their new smartphones' superiority in various departments. Can you guess the unnamed handset models in these tables? Feel free to leave a comment below.
After the launch, I got to speak with Ms. Austine Huang, the Marketing Director of Realme Philippines, about the handsets that they've just formally announced. She also shared with me her message for the millions of Filipino Realme Fans. I got our entire conversation on video and I'd like to invite you to watch it here.
