Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Philippines Price is PHP 69,990 : 5G-Enabled Powerhouse, In The Flesh!
I'm currently here at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in BGC Taguig City where Samsung Mobile Philippines has just unveiled its freshest line of flagship-level Galaxy S Android smartphones for 2020.
The all-new Samsung Galaxy S20 Series, which consists of three models, officially supersedes the Galaxy S10 Series from 2019, offering better technical specifications and improved features across the board.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is the most expensive of the trio as it has the largest screen at 6.9-inch QuadHD, most powerful set of cameras, best set of internal hardware, and largest battery pack with fastest charging speeds support. However, the best part is that it is also 5G-ready which means it will be capable of enjoying the fastest mobile internet service when it becomes available in our country.
In terms of design and build, it features scratch-resistant glass front and back panels and a mid-frame made of real metal. This look is not only similar to that of the other two S20 models but is also reminiscent of Galaxy S series releases within the past five years.
If anything, for me, the distinguishing physical characteristic of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra would have to be its large rectangular camera module at the back, which houses what could be the most powerful line-up of shooters on any smartphone to date.
This Quad Rear Camera Set-up is made up of the following:
1. 108 MegaPixel Primary Camera with f/1.8 Aperture, 26mm Wide, Dual Pixel Phase Detection AutoFocus, and Optical Image Stabilization
This is the most powerful of the bunch in terms of day to day point and shoot photography in various lighting conditions.
2. 48 MegaPixel Camera with Periscope enabling 102mm Telephoto Zoom, 1/2" Sensor Size, 0.8µm, PDAF, OIS.
Enabling Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra's 10X Lossless Zoom capability, this shooter is more of less similar to what we have already seen on the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom.
3. 12 MegaPixel Ultra-Wide Camera with, f/2.2 Aperture, 1.4µm Pixel Size, AF
Made to capture scale, this snapper is ideal for taking landscape and architectural images. It's also good for shooting photos of large groups of people.
4. DepthVision, Depth Sensor
Finally, this shooter enables Live Focus Mode that lets you add subtle, artistic background blur to further highlight subjects in photos and videos.
Great for video content creators and Youtubers who want to future-proof their work or who see the benefits in shooting in ultra-high resolution like for cropping videos without losing quality in post production, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra - like the the S20 and S20+ - can shoot 8K videos at 30 frames per second.
Compared to the other two S20 models, though, that's particularly amazing about S20 Ultra is that you can zoom on your subject without losing too much details through the Periscope Zoom, even when recording in 8K!
If you think 8K is a bit of an overkill for now, you can still use the S20 Series to shoot 4K videos at 30 and 60 fps or FullHD clips at 30, 60, and 240 fps (for slow motion).
The 40MP front-facing camera is just as amazing as it can deliver ultra-clear selfies all while being able to shoot up to 4K videos at 60 frames per second.
This camera, which is housed in a punch hole above the downright gorgeous Dynamic AMOLED 2.0 Display, even comes with Auto-HDR in video mode which gives you more pleasant looking talking head videos even when your background is very bright.
There's also Video Live Focus mode - both for the rear and front cameras - that lets you add background blur to subjects in videos through software. This mimics - to an extent - what you'll get when shooting videos using a prime camera with wide aperture.
Speaking of the display, the 6.9-inch near-bezel-less QuadHD+ 1440 x 3200 pixels panel with 120 Hz refresh rate delivers top-notch viewing experience when watching high-resolution videos and most especially playing 3D games with high frame rate.
Now, as for the internal hardware, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is powered by the beastly Exynos 990 processor which incorporates an Adreno 650 GPU for ultra-smooth gaming experience and overall performance.
According to Samsung, the new Exynos 990 is designed with a powerful AI processing capability and a dual-core neural processing unit to deliver faster and more efficient machine learning performance. One of the benefits of this chip is that it enables the camera to produce pro-grade photography via intelligent optimization.
On top of that, Exynos 990 works with the 5G cellular modem to deliver hyper-fast mobile broadband speed for the era of live. Matched with the powerful octa-core CPU and a cutting-edge GPU delivering a near-desktop-like experience, this ultra-fast mobile connectivity support truly puts the new Galaxy S20 Series on another level.
Other notable internal harware include a whopping 12GB of RAM for lag-free multitasking experience and 128GB of internal storage that can easily be expanded using the phone's hybrid secondary nanoSIM slot that also has room for a microSD card.
Crafted to deliver extended uptime for power users and heavy gamers, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra runs on a massive 5,000 mAh Li-Po battery pack that supports ultra-fast 45W charging though the provided travel charger and cable as well as fast wireless charging.
Personally, I'm delighted that the Korean Giant has decided to put bigger batteries on their flagship level Galaxy smartphones, which is really handy for high-end consumers who hate always carrying a powerbank or travel charger anywhere they go.
Interested in this ultra-premium Android smartphone? Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra dons an official price tag of PHP 69,990 here in the Philippines and will also be available as a top-level bundled handset with Smart Signature Plans. Upon launch, 5G-enabled Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra will be out in two very elegant colors, namely, Cosmic Gray and Cosmic Black, which I'm showing you in all of these actual unit photos. The official release date of the entire Samsung Galaxy S20 Series in the Philippines is on March 6, 2020.
