It's been a while since vivo Mobile released a new smartphone in the Philippines. If my memory serves me right, the last one was the vivo S1 Pro from way back in November 2019.
So as a vivo fan myself, I was delighted when I learned earlier this month that the international tech brand was finally slated to launch a duo of midrange Android handsets in our country.
vivo V19 Neo, which was officially unveiled alongside the vivo V19 on June 13, 2020 via the company's first ever online-only digital launch, is the more affordable model of the two -- but it's just as handsome and feature-packed.
According to Ms. Charisma Buan, vivo PR team lead, "V19 Neo represents our understanding of today’s consumers' needs and it is an innovation which we are extremely proud of. The five-camera design, together with the Ultra O Screen, provides consumers with a brand-new photo-taking and viewing experience."
She added, "V19 Neo will also help consumers to ignite their night with the advanced night shooting abilities. The creation of V19 Neo once again showcases our strong consumer-centric innovation approach and reinforces our position as a pioneer in bringing best-in-class mobile experiences to the Philippines.”
Slightly more expensive than vivo S1 Pro, vivo V19 Neo dons an official suggested retail price of PHP 17,999. Let me show you everything you'll get for that amount though this quick unboxing.
The smartphones comes in this dark blue box, which I think looks like the Night Sky, with the silhouette of the handset printed on top along with the name of the phone in metallic print.
At the bottom, the company had clearly listed down the four main features of vivo V19 Neo which include the Ultra O Screen, 48MP AI Quad Camera, 32MP Front Camera, and Super Night Mode. I will talk about each of these a bit later.
Lifting the cover, we are greeted by these beautiful concentric design patterns printed on the paper sleeve containing the documentation and other items. This is a lot similar to the design I saw on vivo NEX 3's box and as such, I believe it has something to do with this model's imaging capabilities. Not sure, though.
Now, let's go through all the contents of the box, one by one.
The is the USB Type C to USB connector cable which you will need for charging the phone and for transferring photos and videos you've shot with it to a laptop or desktop computer.
This is the metal pen for ejecting the SIM card tray.
The user guide is just a small pamphlet so I suggest you give it a quick glance before using the vivo V19 Neo. It also gives you a list of the phone's technical specifications so you know exactly what the device has to offer.
I like that the warranty certificate or card also shows all the product faults that are covered by replacement or repair.
vivo had generously included a free soft gel case in the package so you won't have to purchase one separately. The handset has a high-gloss design and a protruding camera module, which can be a scratch magnet, so I think the user will really need to install this.
Finally, here's the vivo V19 Neo unit itself, wrapped in this plastic cover to protect it during shipment.

This is the travel charger that supports the phone's 18W Fast Charging feature.
Finally, this is the vivo branded pair of earphones with in-ear silicone buds that minimize ambient noise when listening to music.

You will get two extra pairs of ear buds in small and large. The medium pair is already pre-installed on the earphones.
To wrap up the unboxing, the complete vivo V19 Neo retail package includes the unit itself, the user guide, the warranty certificate, the charging cable, the pair of vivo earphones, extra silicone buds, the travel charger, metal pin for ejecting the SIM card tray, and the soft gel case.
Now, let me give you a closer look at the phone's design and a quick rundown of its technical specifications.
On its face, vivo V19 Neo flaunts a 6.44-inch FHD+ 2400 × 1080 pixels Super AMOLED, which the company calls "Ultra O Screen" because of the small punch hole in the upper right corner containing the front cam.
According to vivo PR brand executive, Mr. Joseph Cernitchez, "The Ultra O Screen of [...] V19 Neo filters almost 50% of blue light to reduce digital eye strain while a low-brightness anti-flicker technology provides added eye protection especially when using the handsets in the dark, or when playing online games and looking at the screen for extended periods."
Personally, I find this display a joy to view images and videos on because of brilliant colors, the sharp details, and the ultra-thin bezels on all sides, including the chin.
At the rear, we see the phone's ultra-sleek, high-gloss backplate with rounded corners and edges that gently taper to the sides. Rectangular-shaped module housing the imaging set-up, located in the upper-left part, is in proportion with vivo V19 Neo's footprint.
What I have here is the Admiral Blue version and since Blue is my favorite colors, I think that my unit looks downright attractive and gorgeous.
On the right side, vivo had placed both the power button and the volume rocker for easy access using the thumb or pointer finger depending on whether you are left-handed or right-handed. The power button is very close to the middle of the panel for more convenient access using the thumb if you're right-handed.
On the left side, in the upper portion, you will see the SIM card that you can eject using the provided pin that I showed above.
There's only a stereo microphone pinhole on the top panel.
Finally, the bottom part has the 3.5mm audio jack, another stereo mic pinhole, the USB Type C port, and a row of holes for the loudspeaker.

This is the best of the four for daily point-and-shoot photography in various lighting conditions, even when ambient light is a bit low. With its wide f/1.8 Aperture and large 1/2.25" sensor, it also delivers fairly clear and crisp photos even when used at night, provided there's ample artificial light to illuminate your subject.
