How To Recover Deleted Messages on Facebook Messenger - Tried And Tested Method
Did you know there's a way to recover deleted messages on Facebook Messenger? It's true. It's because Facebook doesn't completely destroy deleted conversations and other user data on their platform.
This is great news for those who've accidentally deleted exchanges that can be used as proof in court or just to clear one's name in the face of a personal attack by a liar.
And yes, this could also be bad news for those who delete Facebook messages mainly to hide illicit affairs or questionable activities.
Anyway, TechPinas is not here to judge anyone morally but mainly to provide tech-related tips and tricks like this one. How you're going to use the information I share is all up to you. (Although, I do hope that you use it for good.)
Here's my tried and tested method in recovering deleted messages on Facebook Messenger.
1. Use your desktop or laptop to browse Facebook and log in to your account.
2. In your Timeline, click on the "Account" button in the upper right corner of the screen as shown in the image below.
3. In the drop-down menu, click on "Settings & Privacy".
4. Then, click "Settings" as shown below.
5. In the Settings page, go to "Your Facebook Information".
6. Under "Your Facebook Information", click on "Download Your Information" as shown below.
7. On the next screen, select your file options, including the format, media quality, and date range of the deleted messages you want to recover.
8. Scroll down and tick the box beside "Messages" as shown below.
9. To wrap up, click on the "Request a download" button at the bottom of the screen.
10. If your Facebook Information request is successful, you will receive an email to your linked account confirming it just like the one below.
11. It may take Facebook a few hours up to a few days to prepare all the deleted Facebook Messenger messages depending on the date range and media format quality that you requested. Just be patient. Once the files are ready, you will receive another email from Facebook with the download links as shown in the image below.
13. Click "Download" button. Then, "Confirm".
14. Facebook will ask you to re-enter your password (or the password of the account where you want to recover deleted messages). You'd have to type it before you can get the files.
15. All the deleted Facebook Messenger messages are contained in a Zip File that can weigh from a few MBs to several GBs depending on the date range and the media format you picked. If the download fails because of the file size, just keep trying and make sure you have a fast and reliable internet connection.
There you have it! I'd say this method is intermediate in terms of difficulty. You'd have to be patient to get all of those files. Anyway, if you found this TechPinas article, don't forget to share it with your friends and loved one. (And again, I hope you use it for good. Cheers!)
