Transsion, Maker of TECNO and Infinix Smartphones, Wins in The Philippines! Top 3 Smartphone Company in Q4 2021!

Based on data gathered by IDC through their Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker in Q4 2021, Transsion Holdings - maker of TECNO and Infinix Android smartphones - was the Top 3 smartphone company in terms of unit shipments in the Philippines for the said period.

Infinix handsets have been available in the country since 2017 but it was when Transsion brought TECNO to the country in 2020 that the Chinese manufacturer was able to get an even bigger chunk of the local handset market.

To quote the International Data Corporation, "Transsion took the third spot and 14.5% share with both the Tecno and Infinix brands launching multiple new models towards the end of the year." (source)

To date, Infinix's Note, Hot, and Zero Series Android smartphones continue to sell well in the brand's official Shopee and Lazada stores.

On the other hand, TECNO's Spark, POVA, and Camon handset lines are also best-sellers in the said online-selling platforms. The TECNO POVA 2, in particular, was able to get stellar reviews from Filipino tech bloggers, including yours truly. Here's our official Youtube review of the said flagship Android handset.

Despite the many challenges that all brands (and all of us, in general) faced in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the ensuing quarantine periods to prevent the spread of infection, Transsion was still able to win big in the Philippines during both years by capturing the interest of Filipino gadget enthusiasts through amazing smartphones that give great value for money.

TechPinas joins Transsion in looking forward to greater successes and more wins in 2022. After all, even IDC is optimistic about this year.

"Shipments to retail channels are expected to bounce back in 2022, as foot traffic continues to increase in the shopping malls, where most of the key smartphone stores and kiosks are located in the larger cities. The vendors are expected to restart their retail expansion and open more stores across the country, which had taken a hiatus during the lockdown periods," shared Ms. Angela Medez, Client Devices Market Analyst at IDC Philippines.
