vivo Y76 5G Review Part 2 : Seven Things I Appreciate Most About This Smartphone
This is part 2 of my vivo Y76 5G Review, delving deeper into the key
features of the smartphone after two weeks of using the device as a daily
driver.
If you haven't, feel free to check out my initial
vivo Y76 5G
review, unboxing, and features rundown article to get a good overview of
this affordable yet feature-packed new release from our friends at vivo
Mobile Philippines.
In this follow-up article I'll talk about the seven things I appreciate
about this great value-for-money handset, which are also my reasons for
recommending it to Pinoy consumers, especially those who are currently
planning to upgrade from their entry-level smartphone to a more powerful
midrange device.
Smooth Mobile Legends Gaming Experience and Decent Benchmark
Scores
vivo Mobile Philippines describes vivo Y76 5G as primarily a vlogging-centric
smartphone -- and I totally understand that since this model has reliable
video recording and editing features, which I have discussed in my initial review.
However, what I found out is that vivo Y76 5G could also be marketed as a
very good gaming smartphone, especially for Mobile Legends Bang Bang players
like me. This smartphone supports high frame for MLBB and delivers a very
enjoyable lag-free gaming experience.
I've also run benchmark tests on the device and the results that I got are
more than decent given the price of the model. In terms of power, this handset
is very competitive when we compare it to other models in its price bracket.
vivo Y76 5G got a Single Core Score of 437 and Multi-Core Score of 1,427 on
Geekbench 5. As for its AnTutu Benchmark Score, it is 325,298.
I think that the combination of the 7nm 2.2 GHz Octa Core MediaTek MT6833
Dimensity 700 processor, Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 8GB of RAM with Extended RAM
technology, and the 128GB of internal storage delivers a smooth, pleasant, and
stutter-free overall mobile experience.
The one feature that sets vivo Y76 5G apart from previous vivo Y-Series
best-sellers is its 5G mobile connectivity support.
This ultra-fast connection, which delivers around 170 MBps download speed in
the 5G zone where our home is located, definitely ensures worry-free gaming
and high-resolution movie viewing experience.
The fairly powerful set of internal hardware of this model would be all for
naught if the doesn't support fast connectivity so I'm glad that this is a
5G-enabled device.
Eye-Catching Attractive Design
"What's your new smartphone, Mac? It looks amazing!" (Ano yang bagong phone
mo, Mac? Ang ganda!)
That's what all members of my family told me the first time I showed them
the vivo Y76 5G in Cosmic Blue. Based on their reactions, I really think
that this colorway effortlessly grabs people's attention and makes them fall
in love with the device at first sight.
As I've mentioned previously, although the smartphone's shell is made
predominantly of polycarbonate, its iridescent finish, balanced ergonomics,
and interesting camera module design give it an air of elegance and
sophistication that's hard to miss and ignore.
Reliable Selfie, Main, and Macro Cameras
I'm usually just at home these days so my usual photography subjects are my
loved ones.
Just like all vivo smartphones from then til now, vivo Y76 5G is a great
selfie or groufie snapper. Here's a photo that I took with my dear mom using
the handset's 16 MegaPixel f/2.0 front-facing camera. Kindly tap on the image
for a larger view so you can inspect the software beautification effect that
was applied to our faces.
The best camera on vivo Y76 5G is its main 50 MegaPixel f/1.8 camera at the
back. It's the one that delivers the highest resolution photos and clearest
images even in low light conditions. Here are some sample images that I took
using the 50MP cam featuring my nephews and my mom. Kindly tap on the photos
for a larger view so you can appreciate how detailed they look.
vivo Y76 5G has three cameras at the back, namely, the 50MP main camera, the
depth sensor that enables Portrait Mode, and a 2 MegaPixel Macro shooter. The
last one lets you take images of very small objects or minute details on
larger subjects -- and I think that many users will find some cute uses for
it. Here, I used the Macro cam to snap a photo of one of my toys, allowing
viewers to see its intricate design better.
Clear Front Video Camera for Vlogging
One of the simple joys of my life currently is spending time with my little
nephews - Mikoy and Jalenn - and recording short vlog clips with them.
They like watching themselves while we record our videos so I usually use the
front-facing camera of my smartphones, the one above the screen, to record our
vlogs.
Thankfully, vivo Y76 5G's front-facing FullHD video recorder gives me clear
and crisp clips that are instantly ready to be uploaded on Youtube. The
handset comes with a built-in video editor, replete with filters, but I
prefer just uploading our clips raw.
Here's a short vlog clip that my nephews and I recorded using the front video
camera of the vivo Y76 5G while we were eating merienda one afternoon.
Large Display Delivers Enjoyable Video Viewing Experience
One thing I love doing on my handsets currently is watching videos - from film
trailers to vlogs on Youtube, TikTok dance clips to movies on Netflix - and I
think that vivo Y76 5G's 6.58-inch FullHD+ IPS display is clear, crisp, and
brilliant enough to give a consistently enjoyable viewing experience.
Sure, the screen's refresh rate is just 60Hz but personally, it doesn't
really bother me that much to count it as a negative or a major downside. If
anything, I think that despite having this limitation, the display quality
is still very good for an IPS panel.
Good Battery Life and Fast Charging
From my own experience as someone who uses my smartphone mainly for browsing
social media apps, playing Mobile Legends, and viewing Youtube videos, I get
around 10 to 12 hours of uptime from the vivo Y76 5G's 4,100 mAh Li-Po
battery coming from a full charge. I think that's already very good as it
covers the entire day.
As I've noted in my initial review, I wish that this phone came with a 5,000
mAh pack for extended uptime but if you ask me now, I'm not really complaining
about it because the handset's power-efficient processor and Flash Charging
technology more than make up for it.
Using the provided travel charger, this smartphone's 44W Flash Charge
Technology delivers 0% to 70% charge in less than 35 minutes so that really
gives me more time to do the things I love on the device instead of waiting
for around two hours for it to fully charge.
There you have it! These are the seven things I appreciate about the vivo Y76
5G. Let me know if you have questions about the features I talked about by
leaving a comment below or by messaging me on social media.
vivo Y76 5G is now available at all vivo Concept Stores and official online
channels in the Philippines for only PHP 14,999. It's out in two
colorways, namely, Midnight Space and Cosmic Aurora.
