WIKO 10 Specs, Price, Initial Review, Unboxing Photos, Availability in the Philippines
International tech brand WIKO has started to release more new Android smartphones in our country for its growing number of Filipino fans and supporters.
Last October 10, 2022, the company officially launched the WIKO 10 handset through a fun consumer event held in SM Mall of Asia.
WIKO 10 is available in two variants. The 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM version sells for PHP 7,999 while the 6GB + 128GB ROM model goes for PHP 8,999. There are three colorways available, namely, Klein Blue, Black, and Silver.
WIKO 10 Complete Technical Specifications
Unboxing and Package Contents
The unit that I have here for review is the Klein Blue colorway of WIKO 10. As you can see, it comes in this black box with the image of the handset as well as its model name printed on the cover. The company also added this fun design element or emblem that makes use of the letters of the brand name.
The package that I received included the WIKO 10 unit itself, the user manual, the warranty card, travel charger, a USB Type C charging cord, and a soft silicone case, which I really appreciate since I didn't have to buy one separately to help protect the device.
Design and Ergonomics
For its price, WIKO 10 looks attractive, elegant, and classy. It actually looks more expensive than it actually is.
I haven't seen the Black and Silver coloways in the flesh so I can't comment on their finish or aesthetics but my Klein Blue review unit is definitely easy on the eyes.
WIKO 10's shell is made predominantly of polycarbonate, which many of you might not find particularly luxurious. However, the handset's metallic finish - especially on this Klein Blue variant, which is the colorway I recommend - gives the device an air of sophistication that's hard to deny.
I don't think anyone would be shy to flaunt this in the classroom, in a cafe, or even in a roundtable corporate meeting.
I also like the smartphone's rounded corners and curved sides, which make it easier to slip into and keep in the pocket. For me, this sleek form adds to WIKO 10's overall pleasing aesthetics.
Display
WIKO 10 flaunts a 6.745-inch HD+ 720 x 1600 pixels IPS LCD display that supports up to 60Hz Refresh Rate.
Although I wish that it had a FullHD+ panel, I think this screen is still more than capable of delivering an enjoyable viewing experience when you are watching Youtube videos, browsing Facebook or Instagram, or even when you're playing mobile games. The colors are vibrant and the ultra-thin bezels make this display a joy to look at.
Imaging Capabilities
At the back of WIKO 10, you will find three cameras and a LED flash all housed in this glass plate. This module is made up of these shooters:
1. 50 MegaPixels, Main Camera, f/1.8 Aperture, JN1 Sensor, Phase Detection AutoFocus
Thanks to its high resolution, wide aperture, and large sensor, this is the best camera of the bunch when it comes to everyday point and shoot photography as well as snapping images in low light conditions.
2. 2 MegaPixels, Depth Sensor, f/2.4, GC02M1B Sensor
This enables Portrait Mode wherein the subject is very clear but the background is slightly blurred. This is called Bokeh Effect and it makes the subject look more interesting due to background separation.
3. 2 MegaPixels, Macro Camera, f/2.4, GC2375 Sensor
This camera is particularly useful for snapping images of very small objects like insects or even just minute details on larger subjects.
If you love snapping selfies or groufies, you can use WIKO 10's front-facing camera that's located in the small teardrop notch above the display. This 8 MegaPixel camera delivers clear self-portraits and benefits from WIKO's own skin beautification software, giving you selfies that are instantly ready for sharing on social media.
Internal Hardware
WIKO 10 runs its near vanilla Android 12 operating system with a 2.3 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G37 processor that integrates an IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU for fairly decent graphics performance when playing mobile games like Mobile Legends Bang Bang.
Although this smartphone can't quite match the gaming prowess of more expensive midrange and flagship-level models, its performance is more than acceptable for a borderline entry-level device.
The review unit that I have has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that can easily be expanded using the hybrid microSD card slot that shares its space with the secondary nanoSIM card slot.
The price difference between the model with 4GB RAM and the one with 6GB of RAM is just PHP 1,000. If you're choosing between the two, I recommend that you just go with the 6GB RAM model that delivers better multitasking experience and overall performance. I personally think that it will give you greater value for your money.
Privacy and Security Features
On top of the usual pattern and passcode methods for unlocking the interface, WIKO 10 also has a side-mounted Fingerprint Scanner that adds another layer of privacy and security for the user against those who want to check the handset's content without the owner's knowledge.
I like the fact that this sensor is integrated with the Power Button so the user can fire up the display and unlock the interface with just one action or gesture.
Battery Size and Charging Speed
WIKO 10 is powered by a large 5,000 mAh Li-Po battery that easily delivers a whole day of uptime even for heavy users or gamers. For those who usually use their handset for browsing social media apps or watching videos on Youtube, this pack can even deliver up to two days of uptime.
This smartphone also features the 22.5W WIKO SuperCharge technology that gives you 100% Full Charge from 0% after more or less an hour of plugging the device into an electrical outlet using the provided travel charger and USB Type C cable.
Is it the right smartphone for you?
If you're currently planning to upgrade your aging entry-level handset to something more powerful but you're not keen on spending more than PHP 10,000 and you're OK with a non-5G device, I think you should definitely include the WIKO 10 in your list of smartphones to check out.
For me, WIKO 10's gorgeous and eye-catching design (especially the Klein Blue colorway), large display with thin bezels, decent imaging features, good set of internal hardware, reliable security features, large battery, and fast charging technology eclipse whatever limitations it may have. For its price, I think WIKO 10 is a good and attractive release.
Oh, and I also think that WIKO 10 could be a great secondary phone for users who already own a flagship-level 5G handset and are looking for a reliable back-up 4G phone.
WIKO 10 is now official available at all WIKO Kiosks and Physical Stores nationwide as well as at WIKO's Lazada and Shopee Online Stores. WIKO's list of official distributors in the Philippines is also growing and you can now also get this model from them.
