SIM Registration Deadline is On April 26, 2023, Smart Shares What Will Happen If You Fail To Register
As the deadline for SIM registration approaches on April 26, 2023,
Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), wireless subsidiary of
PLDT, is urging its customers to take action and register their SIMs
to combat text scams and other criminal activities that are facilitated by
mobile phones.
Under the 'Mag-SIM Reg para hindi SIM Dead' campaign, Smart is
reminding its customers to register their SIMs to avoid the inconvenience and
frustration that comes with SIM deactivation or the so-called 'SIM dead'
situation that occurs when a SIM is not registered.
What Will Happen If You Fail To Register Your SIM
In the event of a SIM deactivation or 'SIM dead' status, you will be
unable to make or receive calls, send or receive messages, or access the
internet, and your prepaid load balance will be forfeited.
This also means that you won't be able to receive one-time passwords
(OTPs) for your banking and mobile wallet apps, preventing you from
accessing and using your savings and wallet credits.
Moreover, if your SIM is dead, you will not be able to access any of the
apps linked to your mobile number, such as social media, messaging, and
delivery apps.
Recovering a forgotten password associated with your mobile number will
also be impossible.
Mr. Francis E. Flores, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business -
Individual at Smart, stressed the significance of mobile devices in our
daily lives, emphasizing that failing to register one's SIM will sever us
from the various technological conveniences that enable us to live more
efficiently. Therefore, Smart is encouraging all its customers to register
their Smart and TNT SIMs before the April 26th deadline.
