DJI Osmo Action 4 Price Starts at $399 USD, Has Larger 1/1.3-inch Sensor Than Action 3
On August 2, 2023, Chinese tech company DJI officially launched the all-new DJI Osmo Action 4, an action camera with a larger
1/1.3-inch sendsor that improves low-light performance. It also
features D-Log M, which further expands dynamic range compared to its predecessor.
The DJI Osmo Action 4 is otherwise similar to the Action 3 in many
aspects. To be specific, it has the same 155-degree field of view, f/2.8 aperture, and 4K 120p
video recording. However, photo resolution has been reduced to 3,648 x 2,736.
For adventurers or those who live extreme, Action 4 is waterproof down to 18m
(59ft), which is great for divers, and supports DJI's latest Rocksteady 3.0 stabilization that's useful for biking on rough roads. The action camera also has a
1.4-inch front screen and 2.25-inch rear display, making it an ideal all-in-one vlogging companion.
As for the price, the DJI Osmo Action 4 dons an SRP starting at
$399 USD, which is $70 more than the Action 3. There's also an
Adventure Combo, which includes three batteries and a variety of
accessories, priced at $499 USD.
DJI Osmo Action 4 appears to a good option for content creators who want
high-quality footage in low light. The larger sensor and D-Log M feature
make a big difference in low-light conditions, and the Action 4 can still
shoot smooth, stabilized footage even in shaky situations.
However, the Action 4 is not without its flaws. The photo resolution is a bit
lower than some other action cameras on the market, and the stabilization
might not be as good as the latest GoPro models as shown by some Youtubers who
have tried out this new release.
Overall, though, the Action 4 is a good option for content creators who want
to capture decent footage even in challenging lighting conditions and to enjoy
more advanced shooting settings compared to what's available on the DJI Osmo
Action 3.
Here are some additional features of the Osmo Action 4:
1. Compatible with any accessories that are compatible with a GoPro mount
2. Quick-switching between five custom modes
3. Voice prompts, voice control, and external mic support
4. The LightCut app that connects wirelessly to Action 4 via Wi-Fi, allowing
for quick previews and auto-editing without the need to transfer footage from
the camera
If you are looking for an action camera with great low-light performance
and more advanced shooting options, the Osmo Action 4 is a new release that
you might want to take a look at. However, keep in mind that its rivals from
GoPro are also worth checking out for their stellar performance and there's
also the more affordable DJI Osmo Action 3, which remains capable,
especially when there's ample ambient light with its smaller 1/1.7-inch sensor.
