TECNO Phantom V Flip Specs, Price, and Features, Unveiled!

Leading handset brand TECNO has just introduced its first-evel clamshell foldable smartphone, the TECNO Phantom V Flip.

This cutting-edge device features an eye-catching circular external OLED display adorned with two cameras and an encircling LED flash. On the inside, you'll discover a spacious 6.9-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED screen.

Powering the Phantom V Flip is the high-end MediaTek Dimensity 8050 chipset, which has an octa-core CPU capable of reaching speeds of up to 3.0 GHz. Initially, the handset was unveiled with 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM, and the user has the flexibility to expand the RAM by an additional 8 GB using the company's Extended Memory innovation.

The impressive 6.9-inch 1080 x 2640 pixels 22:9 Foldable LTPO AMOLED Display not only supports a remarkable 120 Hz refresh rate but also achieves a dazzling 1,000 nits of brightness. Adding to its versatility, the external 1.32-inch AMOLED cover display offers an array of widgets, handles notifications efficiently, and even doubles as a viewfinder for snapping selfies with the more advanced onboard cameras.

Speaking of cameras, the Phantom V Flip boasts a 64 MP primary camera with a substantial 1/1.73” sensor and an f/1.7 aperture lens, complemented by PDAF. Alongside, you'll find a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle shooter with autofocus. The internal camera, discreetly nestled within a punch hole, features a formidable 32 MP sensor.

When unfolded, the device stands at an elegant 171 mm in height and boasts an impressively slender profile of less than 7 mm. TECNO has thoughtfully incorporated a substantial 4,000 mAh battery, utilizing a two-cell solution that is notably generous for its class. Charging is swift, thanks to the support for 45W wired charging, with TECNO confidently claiming that a mere 15-minute charge can fill the battery halfway.

A distinguishing feature of the TECNO Phantom V Flip is its personalized virtual assistant, EllaGPT, delivering intelligent functionalities akin to those offered by Google, Siri, Bixby, or Celia.

This landmark foldable smartphone from TECNO is offered in two striking colorways, namely, Iconic Black and Mystic Dawn (Purple). During its unveiling in India, the company revealed a price of INR 49,999, approximately translating to $605 or €555. For European markets, the phone is set at a competitive €700, while other regions may enjoy the advantage of early-bird promotions, bringing the cost down to approximately $650 USD.

As of writing, TECNO has yet to announce Phantom V Flip's availability and possible pricing details in the Philippines. Given the company's strong market presence in the country, it makes sense to assume that this handset will see local release soon. My price guesstimate for this model is around PHP 36,990 to PHP 39,990 if and when it gets launched here. Stay tuned for updates.
